Regular Season Round 7: Leganes - UCAM Jairis 85-63

Very expected game when 13th ranked UCAM Jairis (1-6) was rolled over on the road by sixth ranked Leganes (5-2) 85-63 on Saturday. Leganes dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to UCAM Jairis' 24. Leganes forced 19 UCAM Jairis turnovers and outrebounded them 40-26 including 17 on the offensive glass. American-U.S. Virgin Islands guard Imani Tate (175-95, college: Albany) fired 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Maria Espin (180-89, agency: Best of You Sports) chipped in 14 points. Forward Victoria Robles (179-91) produced 20 points and center Sara Zaragoza (193-96, college: Portland) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. UCAM Jairis' coach Victor Verdu gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Leganes. They moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with Almeria and Adelantados. Newly promoted UCAM Jairis keeps the thirteenth position with six games lost. Leganes will face league's leader Campus Promete in Logrono in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. UCAM Jairis will play at home against Picken Claret (#9) and hope to win that game.
