Regular Season Round 16: Hitachi SR - Kyoto Hannar. 64-65

Fourth-ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (5-11) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked Kyoto Hannar. (10-6) in Tokyo on Saturday. The visitors from Kyoto managed to secure only one-point victory 65-64. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Hitachi Sunrockers. The winners were led by American center David Simon (208-82, college: PFW) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Tatsuya Ito (173-94) supported him with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Even a double-double of 22 points and 16 rebounds by American Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) did not help to save the game for Hitachi Sunrockers. Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) added 21 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Kyoto Hannar. moved-up to second place, which they share with Kawasaki BT. Loser Hitachi Sunrockers keep the fourth position with 11 games lost. Kyoto Hannar. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hitachi Sunrockers will play again against Kyoto Hannar. (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
