Regular Season Round 9: Gent Hawks - Gistel Oostende 79-63

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Gent Hawks (6-3) defeated at home 9th ranked Gistel Oostende (3-6) 79-63 on Saturday. They outrebounded Gistel Oostende 33-20 including a 12-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Gent Hawks looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 1 passes made by Gistel Oostende's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gent Hawks made 18 blocks. The best player for the winners was power forward Joren Vermoessen (201-93) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds. Forward Gregory De-Pooter (197-84) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Croatian forward Luka Kotrulja (196-98) who recorded 24 points and Dutch Keye Van-De-Vuurst (190-1) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Gent Hawks. They moved-up to fourth place. Gistel Oostende lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. Gent Hawks will face league's leader Melsele on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gistel Oostende will play against Giants B (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
