Regular Season Round 9: Santurtzi - Mondragon 56-69

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Mondragon (5-1) beat on the road 8th ranked Santurtzi (3-3) 69-56 on Saturday. They outrebounded Santurtzi 43-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for power forward Martin Buesa (204-88) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. American center Zach Kirschbaum (208-93, college: Trinity Intern.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Mondragon players scored in double figures. Juan Torres (196-92) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Pablo Albisu (179-95) added 8 points in the effort for Santurtzi. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Mondragon. They moved-up to second place in Group A-A, which they share with Ardoi and Valle de Egues. Loser Santurtzi keeps the eighth position with three games lost. Mondragon will face league's second-placed Ardoi in Zizur Mayor in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Santurtzi will play at home against Pas Pielagos (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
