Regular Season Round 6: United - Bullets 102-94
Date: November 18, 2018
There was no surprise in Melbourne where 5th ranked Bullets (4-6) were defeated by second ranked United (8-3) 102-94. United dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Bullets' 34 and made 24-of-27 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Bullets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American point guard Casper Ware (178-90, college: Long Beach St.) notched 23 points and 6 assists to lead the effort and the former international forward David Barlow (205-83, college: Metro St.) supported him with 18 points and 4 assists. United's coach Dean Vickerman allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by New Zealand swingman Reuben Te-Rangi (198-94) did not help to save the game for Bullets. The former international guard Adam Gibson (188-86) added 19 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. United have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 8-3 record having just two point less than leader Wildcats. Bullets lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with six games lost. United's next round opponent will be Kings (#3) in Sydney, which may be the game of the day. Bullets will play at home against Illawarra Hawks and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
