Very expected game in Saporro where 6th ranked Hokkaido L. (4-13) was defeated by second ranked Toshiba Thunders (11-6) 82-74 on Sunday. Toshiba Thunders dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Hokkaido L.'s 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. International power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American forward Shane Edwards (201-87, college: UALR) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Spanish center David Doblas (206-81) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. Hokkaido L.'s coach Jose Neto rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Toshiba Thunders maintains second place with 11-6 record behind leader Tochigi Brex, which they share with Toyota Alvark. Hokkaido L. lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with 13 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face league's leader Tochigi Brex at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hokkaido L. will play against Osaka Evessa (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
