Regular Season Round 8: Karkkila - Ura Basket II 91-78

Rather expected game when 8th ranked Ura Basket II (3-4) lost on the road to fifth ranked Karkkila (5-2) 91-78 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Karkkila. Ura Basket II was better in second period 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Karkkila dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Ura Basket II's 40. American forward Benson Osayande (203-96, college: Montana St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds. Point guard Janne Kinnunen (185-87) contributed with 17 points and 5 assists for the winners. Osayande is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Karkkila players scored in double figures. Forward Tatu Savonvirta (197-95) replied with 15 points and power forward Teemu Ritanotko (202-94) added 5 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Ura Basket II. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Karkkila moved-up to fourth place in Division. Newly promoted Ura Basket II keeps the eighth position with four games lost. Karkkila will face league's leader Raholan Pyrkiva in Tampere in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Ura Basket II will play at home against PeU-Basket (#5) and hope to win that game.
