Regular Season Round 17: Aomori Watts - Kagawa FA 68-87

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Aomori Watts (6-11) were smashed at home by fifth ranked Kagawa FA (5-11) 87-68 on Sunday. Kagawa FA dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Aomori Watts' 30. They outrebounded Aomori Watts 41-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. Kagawa FA looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida, agency: Inception Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) contributed with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Kagawa FA's coach Kohei Etoh used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Cullen Russo (206-94, college: Fresno St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Toshio Kan (184-94) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Aomori Watts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kagawa FA maintains fifth place with 5-11 record. Loser Aomori Watts dropped to the fourth position with 11 games lost. Kagawa FA will face higher ranked Yamagata (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aomori Watts will play against Shimane Magic and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
