Very important is a road loss of third ranked Kyoto Hannar. (10-7) against fourth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (6-11) on Sunday night. Visiting Kyoto Hannar. was defeated by Hitachi Sunrockers in a tough game in Tokyo 78-85. Hitachi Sunrockers made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 5 assists. International point guard Leo Vendrame (183-93) chipped in 17 points and 7 assists. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach Geoffrey Katsuhisa used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Shaquille Morris (203-94, college: Wichita St.) produced 26 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import center David Simon (208-82, college: PFW) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains fourth place with 6-11 record, which they share with Osaka Evessa. Loser Kyoto Hannar. keeps the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Toyama Grouses. Hitachi Sunrockers will meet Shiga L-Stars (#5) on the road in the next round. Kyoto Hannar. will play against Toyota Alvark in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
