Regular Season Round 6: Kings - Breakers 100-87

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Sydney. Third ranked Kings faced one of their biggest challengers New Zealand Breakers. Host Kings (6-2) defeated guests from Auckland (4-5) 100-87. Kings dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to New Zealand Breakers' 34. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Kings brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was a good game for the former international center Andrew Bogut (213-84, college: Utah) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 blocks. Ukrainian-American point guard Jerome Randle (175-87, college: California) contributed with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Kings players scored in double figures. American forward Shawn Long (208-93, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with 25 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Patrick Richard (196-90, college: McNeese St., agency: Inception Sports) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for New Zealand Breakers. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kings maintains third position with 6-2 record having just three points less than leader Wildcats. New Zealand Breakers at the other side keep the fourth place with five games lost. Kings will play against league's second-placed United in Melbourne in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. New Zealand Breakers will play on the road against the league's leader Perth Wildcats and hope to get back on the winning track.
