There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Palermo GB (2-6) beat at home higher ranked IUL Tiber (3-5) 88-73 on Sunday. Palermo GB made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 IUL Tiber turnovers. Power forward Giuseppe Caronna (206-94) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Andrea Lombardo (197-90) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Palermo GB's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The former international guard Giuliano Maresca (192-80) replied with 23 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and guard Giorgio Algeri (185-95) added 11 points in the effort for IUL Tiber. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Palermo GB moved-up to eleventh place in B, which they share with Crema and Olginate. Loser IUL Tiber keeps the tenth position with five games lost. Palermo GB will face Pozzuoli (#12) on the road in the next round.
