Regular Season Round 6: UC Capitals - Dandenong 77-65

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Dandenong Rangers (3-5) were defeated on the road by fourth ranked Canberra Capitals (5-2) 77-65 on Sunday. International forward Kelsey Griffin (188-87, college: Nebraska) scored 25 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Lauren Scherf (196-96) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Canberra Capitals' coach Paul Goriss used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was guard Rebecca Cole (178-92) with 16 points and 6 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American forward Betnijah Laney (183-93, college: Rutgers, agency: LBM Management) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Canberra Capitals moved-up to third place, which they share with Perth. Loser Dandenong Rangers dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Canberra Capitals will face league's leader Boomers in Melbourne in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Dandenong Rangers will play at home against Adelaide Lightning (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
