Regular Season Round 6: Panathinaikos - Olympiacos 79-70

There was a change at the A1 leadership position after last games. The most important game of round 6 took place in Athens between two undefeated teams where Panathinaikos beat Olympiacos (5-1) 79-70 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Olympiacos. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. 24 personal fouls committed by Olympiacos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international guard Nikos Pappas (194-90) scored 24 points to lead the charge for the winners and American Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American power forward Zach LeDay (201-94, college: Virginia Tech) with 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and the former international Georgios Printezis (204-85, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panathinaikos (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion (6-0) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Peristeri GS. Olympiacos at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Panathinaikos. Olympiacos will play next round against Panionios trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Panathinaikos will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked Kolossos HH in Rodou.
