Top ranked Defensor (7-2) recorded its second loss in Montevideo on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by thirteenth ranked Atletico Welcome (2-7) 98-86. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Defensor. They outrebounded Defensor 38-24 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American center Nick Waddell (200-89, college: Grand Valley St.) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import point guard Nate Frye (183-94, college: New Orleans) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Frye is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Patrick Sanders (201-85, college: Cal-Irvine) produced 37 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and point guard Alejandro Acosta (186-89) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Atletico Welcome moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Verdirrojo. Defensor at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost.
