Regular Season Round 8: Grodno-93 - Tsmoki-Minsk 75-85

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Tsmoki-Minsk as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Tsmoki-Minsk defeated second-ranked Grodno-93 on the road 85-75. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 51-40 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Tsmoki-Minsk looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was international center Anton Vashkevich (202-94) who scored 15 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Point guard Vladislav Bliznyuk (183-99) chipped in 13 points. Tsmoki-Minsk's coach Aleksander Krutikov used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Ilya Sharipov (198-91) produced 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Ukrainian forward Ivan Kalyaev (200-87) added 17 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) respectively for the hosts. Four Grodno-93 players scored in double figures. Tsmoki-Minsk (7-0) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Grodno-93 at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost. Grodno-93 will play next round against GOCOR-Sozh trying to get back on the winning streak. Tsmoki-Minsk will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked RCOP Tsmoki. It will be extra interesting game as RCOP Tsmoki is their local rival from Grodno.
