Regular Season Round 15: Santos - Angeles 84-72

The game between closely ranked teams ended with sixth ranked Santos' (5-9) home victory over 7th ranked Angeles (3-11) 84-72 on Tuesday. Santos looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for American forward BJ West (211-89, college: Jackson St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Lyonell Gaines (198-93, college: Morehead St.) helped adding 19 points and 7 rebounds. Gaines is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. The best for the losing side was Puerto Rican forward Carlos Lopez-Sosa (208-90, college: UNLV) with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Puerto Rican point guard Filiberto Rivera (189-82, college: UTEP) scored 15 points and 5 assists. Four Angeles players scored in double figures. Angeles' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Santos moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Abejas. Angeles lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. Santos will face higher ranked Panteras (#3) in Aguascalientes in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Angeles will play at home against the league's second-placed Fuerza Regia (#2) and hope to win that game.
