Regular Season Round 8: KR - Grindavik 85-95

Date: November 22, 2018
There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Grindavik (3-5) beat higher ranked KR (5-3) in Reykjavik 95-85 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Grindavik. KR was better in fourth quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American-Dominican guard Lewis Clinch (191-87, college: Georgia Tech) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 5 rebounds. Dutch forward Jordy Kuiper (206-95, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: Inception Sports) contributed with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Julian Boyd (201-90, college: LIU Brooklyn) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds and international guard Jon Stefansson (192-82) added 19 points and 8 assists in the effort for KR. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. KR's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Grindavik moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Thor Thorl. Defending champion KR keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Grindavik will face higher ranked Haukar (#7) in Hafnarfjordur in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. KR will play on the road against Stjarnan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
