We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Egilsstadir where 5th ranked Hottur (3-3) was defeated by sixth ranked FSU (3-4) 97-80 on Thursday. The game without a history. FSU led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. FSU outrebounded Hottur 41-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American-Dominican point guard Mike Rodriguez (178-94, college: S.Illinois) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 9 assists. Point guard Ari Gylfason (186-89) helped adding 22 points and 11 rebounds. Four FSU players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Charles Clark (188-96, college: Carson-Newman) responded with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Spanish forward David Guardia (200-90, agency: Players Group) scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. FSU have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 3-4 record. Loser Hottur keeps the fifth position with three games lost. FSU will meet higher ranked Hamar (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hottur will play against Sindri and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
