Regular Season Round 9: FoKoPo - HBA-Marsky 81-101

Very predictable result when fourth ranked HBA-Marsky (6-3) smashed on the road 10th ranked Forssan Koripojat (2-6) 101-81 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 52-26 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. HBA-Marsky forced 19 Forssan Koripojat turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Mustapha Amzil (202-1) stepped up and scored 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and international guard Ville Tahvanainen (193-0) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American center Gilbert Talbot (208-94, college: LSU-Alexandria) with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Isaac Williams (195-94, college: Miss.Valley St.) scored 26 points and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Five HBA-Marsky and four Forssan Koripojat players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. HBA-Marsky maintains fourth place in Division with 6-3 record. Loser Forssan Koripojat keeps the tenth position with six games lost. HBA-Marsky will face league's second-placed Kristika Turku in Turun in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Forssan Koripojat will play at home against the league's leader Lahti (#1) and hope to win that game.
