An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Mexico. First ranked Capitanes faced 4th ranked Laguneros. Host Capitanes (11-4) defeated guests from Torreon (8-7) 105-93. Capitanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Laguneros' players. Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 assists. Jamaican-American guard Akeem Scott (185-83, college: High Point) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Mychal Ammons (198-92, college: S.Alabama) added 16 points and 13 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Capitanes and five Laguneros players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Capitanes maintains first position with 11-4 record, which they share with Aaguacateros. Newly promoted Laguneros dropped to the third place with seven games lost. Capitanes will face again Laguneros (#5) in Torreon in the next round.
