Regular Season Round 7: Evropi - Ippokratis 84-93

Everything could happen in Pefkohori at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Ippokratis and 9th ranked Evropi had identical 3-3 record. But Evropi was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Ippokratis 93-84 on Saturday night. Ippokratis outrebounded Evropi 41-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for swingman Ioannis Chatzinikolas (196-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Dimitris Kalampakas (202-89) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Chatzinikolas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Ippokratis players scored in double figures. Ippokratis' coach Thanassis Papachatzis used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Forward Vassilis Kitsoulis (203-83) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Danis Eleftheriadis (197-89) added 14 points in the effort for Evropi. Ippokratis (4-3) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Evropi at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. Ippokratis will face Charilaos TM (#13) in Mesolongi in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Evropi will play on the road against Diagoras D. in Athens and hope to win that game.
