Regular Season Round 12: Vilpas - Ura Basket 94-78

Date: November 24, 2018
Korisliiga top team - Vilpas (12-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat seventh ranked Ura Basket (5-8) in Salo 94-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ura Basket. The game was mostly controlled by Vilpas. Ura Basket managed to win second period 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vilpas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Antonio Ballard (194-88, college: Miami, OH) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Brandon Taylor (201-94, college: Penn St.) who added 15 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Ballard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Vilpas players scored in double figures. Vilpas' coach Joonas Iisalo used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Senegalese-American power forward Malik Dime (206-92, college: Washington) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Avery Woodson (188-93, college: Butler) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Vilpas have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-1 record. Newly promoted Ura Basket keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. Vilpas are looking forward to face Lapuan Korikobrat (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ura Basket will play against KTP-Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
