Regular Season Round 18: Toyotsu FE - Hiroshima D. 92-67

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Dragonflies (15-3) in Nagoya on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by second ranked Toyotsu FE (13-5) 92-67. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Toyotsu FE shot 61.0 percent from the field. Toyotsu FE had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Toyotsu FE especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 72.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American center Garrett Stutz (214-90, college: Wichita St.) had a triple-double by scoring 13 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Cherif Sow (201-92) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Five Toyotsu FE players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Eric Thompson (204-93, college: Pacific) with 17 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Shogo Asayama (192-81) scored 18 points and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyotsu FE have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 13-5 record behind leader Shinshu BW. Newly promoted Dragonflies still keep top place with three games lost. They share the position with Shinshu BW. Toyotsu FE are again looking forward to face league's leader Dragonflies in Hiroshima in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Dragonflies will have a break next round.
