Regular Season Round 9: Bolzano AV - Marghera 46-50

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Bolzano AV (2-7) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Marghera (4-5) 50-46 on Saturday. Marghera held Bolzano AV to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Marghera forced 24 Bolzano AV turnovers. Strangely Bolzano AV outrebounded Marghera 37-20 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Sara Toffolo (184-0) who scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Elena Giordano (-2) chipped in 15 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Luxembourg forward Nadia Mossong (182-86, college: E.Kentucky) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and swingman Alessia Egwoh (184-97) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Marghera maintains ninth place in A2 with 4-5 record. Newly promoted Bolzano AV dropped to the fourteenth position with seven games lost. Marghera will face Varese (#15) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Bolzano AV will play against Vicenza and hope to win that game.
