Bottom-ranked Cerdanyola is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to fourth ranked Rioja (6-2) 80-63 on Saturday evening. Rioja outrebounded Cerdanyola 40-15 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cerdanyola was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Russian power forward Mariya Davydova (190-93, college: FIU, agency: ProDep Management) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 7 rebounds. DR Congolese-Belgian center Harriet Nahwezhi-Bende (186-94) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Center Marta Arbizu (187-91) replied with 10 points and Laura Arias (177-93) added 10 points in the effort for Cerdanyola. Four Cerdanyola players scored in double figures. Cerdanyola's coach Juan Couto tested eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Rioja have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in Group A. Newly promoted Cerdanyola still closes the standings with eight games lost. Rioja will face Mataro Parc (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Cerdanyola will play against Segle XXI (#11) in Barcelona and hopes to get finally their first victory.
