Regular Season Round 7: Thor AK - Vestri 91-71

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Akureyri. First ranked Thor AK faced their biggest opponent Vestri. Host Thor AK (6-1) smashed guests from (5-2) 91-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Vestri. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Thor AK players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Ingvi Ingvarsson (187-94) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 assists and 5 steals. Forward Palmi Jonsson (196-93) contributed with 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Thor AK's coach Larus Jonsson used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American-German forward Andre Hughes (203-94, college: E.New Mexico) answered with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Montenegrin forward Nemanja Knezevic (203-87) added 13 points and 19 rebounds in the effort for Vestri. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Thor AK have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-1 record. Vestri at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Fjolnir. Thor AK will play against league's second-placed Fjolnir in Reykjavik in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vestri will play on the road against Snaefell in Stykkisholmur and hopes to get back on the winning track.
