Regular Season Round 9: Siena Virtus - Varese Robur 60-83

Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Varese Robur (5-3) outscored on the road 16th ranked Siena Virtus (1-7) 83-60 on Saturday. Varese Robur forced 21 Siena Virtus turnovers. Forward Marco Planezio (198-91) stepped up and scored 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners and point guard Simone Ferrarese (184-87) chipped in 24 points. The best for the losing side was Alessandro Nepi (186-93) with 8 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Federico Bianchi (190-90) scored 10 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Varese Robur moved-up to sixth place in B. Newly promoted Siena Virtus keep the sixteenth position with seven games lost. Varese Robur will face Rosmini D. (#17) in Domodossola in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Siena Virtus will play at home against Cecina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
