Regular Season Round 11: Pau-Lacq-Orthez - Chalon 80-79

A very interesting game took place in Pau. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 11th ranked Chalon (5-7) to eighth ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (6-5) 80-79 on Saturday evening. Pau-Lacq-Orthez forced 20 Chalon turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Thibault Daval-Braquet (210-97) who led the winners and scored 22 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Florian Pouaveyoun (203-99) accounted for 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Etienne Ca (210-97) came up with 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and point guard Hugo Besson (184-1) added 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Chalon in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Pau-Lacq-Orthez. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Monaco. Chalon lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with seven games lost. Pau-Lacq-Orthez's next round opponent will be higher ranked Chalons-Reims (#5) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chalon will play against the league's second-placed Gravelines (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
