Regular Season Round 9: Varese - Udine 59-58

Varese can celebrate finally their first win this season after eight consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they edged much higher ranked Udine (5-4) 59-58 on Saturday. Point guard Laura Rossi (173-97) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and guard Francesca Misto (175-95) chipped in 14 points. Varese's coach Lilli Ferri allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Slovenian power forward Ana Ljubenovic (185-88) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Isabel Romano (173-96) scored 15 points and 4 steals. Varese (1-8) left bottom position moving up to fifteenth place in A2. Loser Udine keeps the seventh position with four games lost. Varese will meet higher ranked Marghera (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Udine will play against Scrivia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
