Regular Season Round 9: Ponzano - Albino 50-49

Bottom-ranked Albino (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 50-49 loss to fourteenth ranked Ponzano (3-6) in Veneto on Saturday evening. The best player for the winners was Lucrezia Coser (-98) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Giulia Zecchin (178-97) chipped in 8 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Federica Iannucci (172-93) who recorded 21 points and British forward Chantelle Pressley (185-90, college: E.Illinois) added 7 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Albino's coach Giuliano Stibiel rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ponzano moved-up to twelfth place in A2. Loser Albino still closes the standings with eight games lost. Ponzano will face league's second-placed Costa Masnaga on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Albino will play against Bolzano BK (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
