Regular Season Round 12: Charleville - Besancon 92-87

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Charleville-Mezieres (5-7) defeated at home higher ranked Besancon (6-6) 92-87 on Saturday. Charleville-Mezieres made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. It was a good game for the former international point guard Xane dAlmeida (181-83) who led his team to a victory with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Swingman Jonathan Leria (198-90) contributed with 25 points for the winners. Lithuanian forward Rokas Uzas (202-88) replied with 23 points and 9 rebounds and guard Gerald Guerrier (188-93) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Besancon. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Charleville-Mezieres moved-up to eighth place in Group A, which they share with ALS Basket and Sorgues BC. Newly promoted Besancon keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Charleville-Mezieres will face Kaysersberg (#14) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Besancon will play against Sorgues BC (#9) and hope to win that game.
