There was no surprise when 7th ranked Unia Tarnow (4-6) was defeated at home by fourth ranked AZS UJK Kielce (6-4) 90-73 on Saturday. AZS UJK Kielce forced 20 Unia Tarnow turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Center Maciej Szewczyk (197-94) fired 25 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Michal Szwedo (200-97) chipped in 18 points. Five AZS UJK Kielce players scored in double figures. Power forward Tomasz Palmowski (199-97) produced 24 points and 8 rebounds and guard Tomasz Bryzek (195-86) added 19 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Unia Tarnow's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. AZS UJK Kielce maintains fourth position in Group C with 6-4 record, which they share with Tarnowskie Gory. Newly promoted Unia Tarnow dropped to the ninth place with six games lost. AZS UJK Kielce will face Bielsko-Biala (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Unia Tarnow will play against MKS DG 2 (#14) and hope to win that game.
