Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Olimpico 64 (0-8) was edged on the road by twelfth ranked De La Torre (2-5) 65-62 on Saturday. De La Torre outrebounded Olimpico 64 47-27 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. American swingman Jasmine Lumpkin (183-96, college: Texas A&M) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds. Lorena Linan (-83) contributed with 8 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Forward Irene San-Andres (180-98) replied with 19 points and 5 assists and guard Paula Dominguez (173-89) added 6 points and 6 assists in the effort for Olimpico 64. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. De La Torre moved-up to eleventh place in Group B. Loser Olimpico 64 still closes the standings with eight games lost. De La Torre will face higher ranked Granada (#10) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Olimpico 64 will play against UCAM Jairis (#13) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
