Regular Season Round 10: Gijon - Baskonia 87-73

There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Baskonia (3-7) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Gijon (3-7) 87-73 on Saturday. Gijon outrebounded Baskonia 57-30 including a 25-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Canadian forward Shane Osayande (198-93, college: Saskatchewan, agency: Interperformances) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Saul Blanco (196-85) chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side swingman Miguel Gonzalez (201-99) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and Argentinian point guard Lautaro Lopez (188-99) scored 17 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Gijon moved-up to eleventh place in Silver. Gijon will face higher ranked Marin (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
