Regular Season Round 9: Pistoia - Orvieto 71-70

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifteenth ranked Pistoia and 14th ranked Orvieto had identical 1-7 record. This time Pistoia used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Orvieto 71-70 on Saturday night. Pistoia dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Orvieto's 34. The best player for the winners was power forward Serena Bona (181-89, agency: SPORTlab Agency) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Bosnian power forward Natasa Tomasovic (185-93) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Pistoia's coach Stefano Tommei used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Pistoia will face higher ranked Umbertide (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Orvieto will play against Forli (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
