Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Sao Paulo: Vivo/Franca (#1) and Paulistano (#3). Vivo/Franca (10-1) smashed visiting Paulistano (7-3) by 16 points 89-73. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Paulistano. Strangely Paulistano outrebounded Vivo/Franca 35-21 including 26 on the defensive glass. American David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) scored 16 points to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Elio Corazza (193-89, college: Miami Dade CC) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side international Leonardo Meindl (201-93) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and Eddy Carvalho (196-87) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Paulistano's coach Regis Marrelli rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Vivo/Franca have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-1 record. Paulistano at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Pinheiros. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
