Regular Season Round 7: Sydney - Perth 67-113

Date: November 24, 2018
Bottom-ranked Sydney Uni Flames (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 113-67 loss to fourth ranked Perth Lynx (6-2) in Sydney. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Sydney Uni Flames' 30 and made 26-of-32 charity shots (81.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Sydney Uni Flames 48-27 including a 34-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Perth Lynx brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Asia Taylor (188-91, college: Louisville, agency: LBM Management) who led the winners and scored 27 points and 7 rebounds. Her fellow American import swingman Alison Schwagmeyer (177-90, college: Quincy) accounted for 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Five Perth Lynx players scored in double figures. American guard Brittany Smart (175-85, college: Cedarville) came up with 12 points and 6 rebounds and guard Tahlia Tupaea (174-97) added 14 points (made all of her seven free throws) respectively for Sydney Uni Flames in the defeat. Sydney Uni Flames' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Perth Lynx moved-up to second place, which they share with UC Capitals. Sydney Uni Flames at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Perth Lynx's next round opponent will be Canberra Capitals (#3) at home, which may be the game of the day. Sydney Uni Flames will play against Bendigo Spirit (#4) and hope to get finally their first victory.
