Regular Season Round 8: Artego Bydg. - TS Ostrovia 79-43

Bottom-ranked TS Ostrovia (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 79-43 loss to fifth ranked Artego Bydg. (5-1) in Bydgoszcz on Sunday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to TS Ostrovia's 14. Artego Bydg. forced 28 TS Ostrovia turnovers and outrebounded them 34-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian-Bosnian center Dragana Stankovic (195-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and the former international forward Elzbieta Miedzik (180-83) who added 15 points during the contest. Four Artego Bydg. players scored in double figures. Center Karolina Podkanska (180-98) responded with 8 points and 7 rebounds and forward Ewelina Jackowska (187-93) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Artego Bydg. maintains fifth position with 5-1 record. Loser TS Ostrovia still closes the standings with eight games lost. Artego Bydg. will meet AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (#7) in the next round. TS Ostrovia will play against the league's leader CCC Polkowice (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
