Regular Season Round 8: Maccabi T-A - Rishon 98-64

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Maccabi T-A as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Maccabi T-A smashed 8th ranked Maccabi Rishon in Tel-Aviv 98-64. They outrebounded Maccabi Rishon 49-23 including a 37-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Maccabi T-A looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Italian Angelo Caloiaro (205-89, college: USF, agency: Pensack Sports) who scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Tarik Black (206-91, college: Kansas) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A's coach Giannis Sfairopoulos felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St., agency: HMS) produced 22 points and 6 rebounds and international guard Egor Koulechov (196-94, college: Florida) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Maccabi Rishon lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. They share the position with Bnei Hertzeliya. Maccabi Rishon will play next round against strong Hapoel Holon trying to get back on the winning streak. Maccabi T-A will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona in Nes Ziyona.
