Regular Season Round 12: Kataja - BC Nokia 91-82

An interesting game took place in Joensuu where higher ranked BC Nokia (6-7) was upset on the court of ninth ranked Joensuun Kataja (4-3) 91-82. BC Nokia was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 36-15 third quarter run of Joensuun Kataja. Strangely BC Nokia outrebounded Joensuun Kataja 41-25 including 32 on the defensive glass. Joensuun Kataja players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The winners were led by American point guard Vincent Simpson (185-88, college: Hampton, agency: Inception Sports) who scored that evening 21 points and 5 assists and Canadian guard Daniel Mullings (189-91, college: N.Mexico St.) supported him with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. Joensuun Kataja's coach Juha Sten allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds by Serbian power forward Dragan Labovic (207-87) did not help to save the game for BC Nokia. American power forward Sean OMara (208-95, college: Xavier, agency: Inception Sports) added 15 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Joensuun Kataja moved-up to eighth place. BC Nokia lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with seven games lost. Joensuun Kataja will play against league's second-placed Tampereen Pyrinto on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. BC Nokia will play against Helsinki Seagulls and hopes to get back on the winning track.
