Regular Season Round 6: Gorizont II - Victoria 52-76

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Gorizont II (1-5) was smashed by sixth ranked Victoria (3-4) in Minsk 76-52 on Sunday. The game without a history. Victoria led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Victoria forced 19 Gorizont II turnovers. Gorizont II was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for center Anastasiya Serchenya (182-0) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Yana Iahnovets (169-1) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Four Victoria players scored in double figures. Guard Polina Makritskaya (173-1) replied with 9 points and 6 rebounds and center Lyubov Stepanova (165-99) added 5 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Gorizont II. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Victoria moved-up to fourth place, which they share with COR Victoria. Gorizont II lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Victoria will face Gomel-Sozh (#6) on the road in the next round. Gorizont II's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Minsk Gorizont.
