Regular Season Round 6: Olimpia - Gorizont 77-75

Premier League round 6 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of league's leader Gorizont (5-1) against second ranked Olimpia (6-1) 77-75 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Gorizont. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-17. But Gorizont won second period 23-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olimpia made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. It was a good game for forward Olga Kopylova (187-82) who led her team to a victory with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Natallia Dashkevich (188-88) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Russian guard Evgeniia Korotygina (180-93) replied with 20 points and 7 rebounds and international center Hanna Brych (187-97) added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Gorizont. Gorizont's coach Nataliya Trafimava rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Olimpia maintains second position with 6-1 record having just one point less than leader Tsmoki-Minsk. Gorizont at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Tsmoki-Minsk. Gorizont will play next round against Gorizont II trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Minsk to the arena of Gorizont II. Olimpia will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked BrGU COR Victoria in Brest.
