Regular Season Round 6: Gomel-Sozh - RGUOR 75-57

Bottom-ranked RGUOR is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their seventh consecutive match to fifth ranked Gomel-Sozh (2-4) 75-57 on Sunday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Gomel-Sozh. RGUOR managed to win third quarter 13-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gomel-Sozh forced 20 RGUOR turnovers and outrebounded them 45-25 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Yulia Haponova (185-94) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Maryna Rakauskaya (173-92) supported her with 27 points and 6 rebounds. Even 6 points and 11 rebounds by Yana Zakharevich (-4) did not help to save the game for RGUOR. Ksenia Navoikova (-4) added 9 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Gomel-Sozh went down to sixth position due to points difference. Newly promoted RGUOR still closes the standings with seven games lost. Gomel-Sozh will meet at home higher ranked Victoria (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. RGUOR will have a break next round.
