Very expected game when 12th ranked Blue Whales (6-9) lost to seventh ranked Beijing Great Wall (10-5) in Chengdu 72-77 on Friday. It was a very good performance for American center Morgan Tuck (188-94, college: Connecticut) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds. The former international Xiufeng Shi (178-87) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Belarusian center Yelena Leuchanka (196-83, college: W.Virginia) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 19 rebounds and forward Xuetong Zhao (185-94) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Blue Whales. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Shandong and Shanxi. Blue Whales lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with nine games lost. Beijing Great Wall will face Flame (#5) in Taiyuan in the next round. Blue Whales will play against Tianjin (#17) and hope to win that game.
