Regular Season Round 16: Henan - Guangdong 77-91

WCBA top team - Vermilion Birds (15-0) managed to deliver another win on Friday. This time they beat tenth ranked Henan Phoenix (8-7) in Jiyuan 91-77. Vermilion Birds dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Henan Phoenix's 32. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Yueru Li (192-99) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Aerial Powers (183-94, college: Michigan St.) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Vermilion Birds' coach Yaosen Lin used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Stefanie Dolson (196-92, college: Connecticut) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds and Yuxi Wei added 18 points and 4 assists in the effort for Henan Phoenix. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vermilion Birds have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-0 record. Newly promoted Henan Phoenix dropped to the eighth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Shanghai and Hebei. Vermilion Birds are looking forward to face Golden Bulls (#12) in Yiwu in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Henan Phoenix will play on the road against the league's second-placed Bayi Kylin (#2) in Nanchang and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
