Regular Season Round 8: Koroivos - Kavala 95-61

Very predictable result when sixth ranked Koroivos (4-3) smashed at home 14th ranked Kavala (1-6) 95-61 on Saturday. Koroivos made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Koroivos outrebounded Kavala 35-20 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 64.0 percentage. Koroivos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Kavala's players. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized German forward Dimitris Cheilaris (206-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and Latvian point guard Toms Leimanis (190-94) who added 14 points and 8 assists during the contest. Five Koroivos players scored in double figures. Naturalized Nigerian guard Etinosa Erevbenagie (186-95) responded with 16 points and naturalized American guard Stefan Korfas (184-99) scored 15 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Koroivos moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Kavala lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with six games lost. Koroivos will face higher ranked Ermis Agias (#3) in Larissa in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kavala will play at home against the league's second-placed Iraklis (#2) and hope to win that game.
