There was no surprise in Ruda Slaska where 10th ranked Pogon RS (6-7) was defeated by first ranked AZS AWF Mick. (12-1) 88-77 on Saturday. AZS AWF Mick. made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Pogon RS was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Mariusz Piotrkowski (198-84) who scored 23 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Aleksander Maslanka (195-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. AZS AWF Mick.'s coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Rafal Sebrala (194-87) produced 17 points and 9 rebounds and center Tomasz Stankala (202-91) added 17 points respectively for the hosts. Five AZS AWF Mick. and four Pogon RS players scored in double figures. The victory was the twelfth consecutive win for AZS AWF Mick.. They maintain first place in Group C with 12-1 record. Loser Pogon RS dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. AZS AWF Mick. will face league's second-placed Polonia Bytom at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pogon RS will play against Unia Tarnow (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
