Regular Season Round 8: Podravac - Medvescak 46-70

Very expected game when 9th ranked Podravac (2-6) was smashed by second ranked ZKK Medvescak (7-1) in Virje 70-46. It looked good early as Podravac took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then ZKK Medvescak had a 22-5 second period charge getting the lead and Podravac was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 46-70. ZKK Medvescak dominated on the defensive end, holding Podravac to just 5 points in second quarter. They also forced 25 Podravac turnovers. ZKK Medvescak players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Podravac's players. The best player for the winners was Anja Majstorovic (184-94) who scored 23 points. The former international forward Iva Todoric (174-93) chipped in 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Valentina Simunic (175-98) produced 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Ana Brezak (-99) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. ZKK Medvescak have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 7-1 record behind leader Split, which they share with Zadar. Podravac at the other side dropped to the eighth place with six games lost. ZKK Medvescak's next round opponent will be Plamen Pozega (#10) at home and are hoping to win another game. Podravac will play against Brod na Savi in Slavonski Brod and hope to win that game.
