Regular Season Round 11: Univ.Burgos - Univ.Valladolid 96-65

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Univ.Valladolid (2-6) was crushed on the road by second ranked Univ.Burgos (7-1) 96-65 on Saturday. Univ.Burgos forced 21 Univ.Valladolid turnovers and outrebounded them 45-30 including 34 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Univ.Valladolid's players. The best player for the winners was naturalized Angolan center Julio De-Assis (203-92) who scored 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). Center Pablo Roman (206-95) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Alejandro Pescador (180-97) produced 9 points and forward Mario Puebla (198-98) added 7 points respectively for the guests. Univ.Valladolid's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Univ.Burgos maintains second place in Group A-A with 7-1 record behind leader Lliria, which they share with Ardoi. Loser Univ.Valladolid dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Univ.Burgos will face Ordizia-Basoa (#13) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Univ.Valladolid will play against La Fecha and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
