No shocking result in a game in Barcelona where eleventh ranked Segle XXI (3-6) won against bottom-ranked Cerdanyola (0-9) 65-54 on Saturday. Segle XXI dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Cerdanyola's 28. They outrebounded Cerdanyola 39-26 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Marta Blanco stepped up and scored 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Carmen Villalobos (-1) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Segle XXI players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Marta Arbizu (187-91) with 11 points and 6 rebounds and Laura Arias (177-93) scored 12 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Segle XXI maintains eleventh place in Group A with 3-6 record. Cerdanyola lost their ninth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with nine games lost. Segle XXI will face higher ranked Mataro Parc (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cerdanyola will play against Cortegada (#10) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
